How to create a bookmarks

 

Creating Bookmarks

Bookmarks are stored as memos in the memo pad. The simplest way to see how they are formatted is to download some example bookmarks from www.hobbyistsoftware.com.

If you create a good list of bookmarks, please send it to me so I can make it available on my site.

The rules for bookmark memos are as follows. Comments are in <brackets>. New lines are shown by bullet points

• <First line must begin with the word bookmarks> Bookmarks <then you can give a description> description of bookmarks
• <you can now have as many lines of description as you want, followed by a blank line> description
• description2
• more description
• <blank line>
• <optional name of bookmark> Google
• <address of bookmark> http://www.google.com
• <blank line tells Initiate that this bookmark is finished>
• <address of bookmark 2 note it has no name> www.hobbyistsoftware.com
• <a blank line is needed to finish>

  the actual memo would look like this:

Search bookmarks:

You can set up a bookmark so that it will ask for a search term, and open the webpage with the search already complete. Initiate does this by substituting any case of the three letters 'xyz' with a search string provided by the user.

If you want to make a bookmark like this, the easiset way to do it is to search for 'xyz' on the site and simply copy the url of the resulting search.

The google mobile bookmark is an example of a bookmark which uses this feature.
