End-User License Agreement

This End-User License Agreement ("Agreement" or "EULA") governs your use of the "Watchover" app provided by Hobbyist Software.

You acknowledge and agree that you understand and accept the significant limitations of Watchover as described below and accept all other terms of this agreement.

1) Limitations

Watchover will not protect your children from anything.

Some examples are:

  • Watchover will not stop your children from viewing pornography.
  • Watchover will not stop your children from communicating with undesirable elements on the internet.
  • Watchover won't block any websites or stop your children playing inappropriate games.

All Watchover does is help you to monitor what is going on on a computer.

There is no substitute for:

  • talking to your kids about the dangers of using computers and the internet.
  • educating them to be safe.
  • getting them to talk to you about anything that worries them or isn't right.

Watchover tries to take screen shots of the computer and monitor how long applications are running and active (being used).

This monitoring will not necessarily work. There are lots of ways that Watchover might fail to record how a computer is used.

Some examples are:

  • Watchover has bugs, it might crash or fail.
  • Watchover can't take screenshots of some games.
  • Your kid might figure out how to circumvent or disable Watchover.
  • Screenshots only happen periodically - they might miss a critical moment

2) Privacy issues

Watchover is meant to help parents keep an eye on their children's computer use. You understand that accessing and monitoring other people's computers needs to be considered carefully. You acknowledge and agree that you will need to consider both the legal aspects of any monitoring and the ramifications for your relationships with those monitored. You acknowledge and agree that Hobbyist Software has no responsibility for either of these issues.

You agree you shall inform anybody who might be monitored by Watchover and obtain their consent to any monitoring.

You agree it is solely your responsibility to ensure you are using Watchover in a legal and appropriate manner. Some countries have laws about privacy, data protection or other things that can mean monitoring someone's computer use is illegal. You agree that Hobbyist Software cannot know whether the way you are using Watchover is legal and appropriate. You acknowledge and agree that specific and personal legal advice should be taken on any individual matter and you acknowledge and agree it is solely your responsibility to ensure you are using Watchover in a legal and appropriate manner.

3) Governing Law

You and Hobbyist acknowledge and agree that this EULA shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and you and Hobbyist Software submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.
